About Me
- UNIX/Linux: I do a lot of work with shell scripts, automating
cron jobs and other utility processes. I am comfortable building my own Linux server, but generally leave true UNIX/Linux admin to the professionals. That is, I don't usually do the hardware side of things, but am happy to work with everything from the startup/shutdown scripts out. When the admin guys have really tight security rules (which is a good thing), I'll easily work within their boundaries to get a job done.
- Documentation: Believe it or not, but I'm a progrmamer who likes the idea of documentation. When I'm done with any job, I hope that the client has enough understanding and/or documentation of what I did that they are not locked into me as their solution. I will very happily work with any client I've EVER had, as long as they want to continue working with me. But, I also want them to have the option, for whatever reason, to let someone else work with them. I really hate the idea of providing less than 100% source code to a client.
- Training: I've done a bit of teaching, too. I'm not the best instructor there is, but the students, I think, generally leave with a good understanding of the materials presented.
