Wowser!

About Me

I'm Andrew Marquardt, a programmer since the late 1970s. I love programming, and do it for fun. ACM It is a great feeling to be talented at something and to also enjoy doing it so much. For those who don't enjoy going to work, just imagine really looking forward to Mondays because the work week starts again!! That's me.

Here's what I do:

  • Web Development: Since 2002, I've been working with HTML, XML, CSS and XSL.
  • Web Administration: I have also work in configuring iPlanet (mostly version 4) and WebLogic (mostly version 6.1). And I do some current versions of Apache and Tomcat work, too.
  • Business Analysis & Marketing Support: Much of my career has been spent doing business analysis, working with clients to automate the processes, or to design modifications to software that better fits a client's business model. I'm not a salesperson, but have done a lot of marketing support activites over the years: demos, presentations, etc. It is the fun part of the sales cycle, without the headaches of being the actual salesperson!!
  • Java: Since mid-2000, I have been working with Enterprise-level Java, including EJBs, beans, JSP, Javascript, etc.
  • .NET: I have done quite a bit with .NET, and am comfortable working with it, but really prefer Java-based projects.
  • Informix: I started with Informix back in the late 80s, and still work with it today, doing 4GL, SQL, and SPL. I also do database tuning and administration. Indexes are often a major factor in enhancing database performance. I developed a utility to analyze index structure for "standard" problems, and work with the database statistics on more complex issues. As long as the UNIX admin folks can tell me the device names for the raw disk area, I'm happy installing and configuring Informix, too.
  • FourGen-CASE Tools -Enterprise and -Business: I've been working with FourGen products (and now Gillani) since early in 1990.
A little more?
